Weekly Fishing Reports

SEPTEMBER

September is here and we are right on schedule for welcoming in the fall fishing pattern. Fish are moving shallower looking for the schools of small perch that are everywhere in the lake. As well as the bug hatches that seem to continue thru late August early Sept.

Muddy bottom and last of the dying weed edges are always a go to this time of year. The entrances to bays or even in the bays from 10-20ft seems to be a good depth as well. Also try the first points or reef/humps out from the bays. These seem to be good for me.

Jig and minnow or snell and minnow seem to be very productive approaches in 15-25ft this time of year. If you start finding fish in 10-15ft I would start using spinner rigs with crawler or minnow. Great for getting a reaction bite out of shallow aggressive walleyes.

Soon the big pike will go on the feed as well. Look to shallow rock piles out from bays in 10-15ft. Favorite target bait of mine is 10-15inch sucker minnows below a big bobber set to 7ft.
